Anthony DeMauro, Ph.D., is the Associate Director of Dalai Lama Fellows, a global leadership program designed to help young changemakers integrate personal, relational, and systemic transformation. In this role, Anthony manages many aspects of the program including the Head, Heart, and Hands curriculum, coaching of fellows, and planning and delivery of the yearly Contemplative Leadership Assembly.

Before joining CSC full-time in 2018, Anthony worked part-time for CSC as a Contemplative Instructor for two years, delivering contemplative programming to the University community through drop-in sessions, workshops, and retreats.

Anthony’s work at CSC proceeds from his many previous experiences working in educational settings, where he has served as a teacher, clinician, organizer, researcher, and consultant. Anthony’s educational work has always aimed to support students’ holistic well-being, and he especially recognizes the power of relationships, community, and culture in shaping how people relate to and move through the world. Therefore, he is interested in working with others to create relationships, communities, and cultures that support the flourishing of humans and the more-than-human world.

In addition to his work with CSC, Anthony has contributed to and been influenced by the work of Cultivating Awareness and Resilience in Education (CARE), a mindfulness- and compassion-based program to support K-12 educators, and Inward Bound Mindfulness Education (iBme), which offers retreat programs for teenagers. Anthony’s professional work draws from his personal contemplative practices of meditation (primarily Kriya Yoga), time in nature, song, dance, dialog, and the ongoing inspiration of the contemplative communities that hold him.
