Andy Starr

Andy Starr is currently a third year medical student at the UVa School of Medicine. Before returning to school to pursue his MD, he received a Master of Acupuncture degree from the Tai Sophia Institute for the Healing Arts in Laurel, MD in 2008, and then ran a private practice in New York City. After completing his medical training, he plans to practice primary care medicine and will integrate his knowledge of the eastern and western approaches to medicine in order to provide the best possible care to his patients. His research interests include exploring ways in which contemplative practices such as yoga and meditation can help effect behavioral change in order to improve health outcomes. He has been a practitioner of various forms of yoga and meditation for many years. Andy is the proud father of a 2 daughters.
